Learning and Growing Outside the School Day
Community Schools Collaboration strives to ensure that all students have the opportunities they need to learn, grow and succeed. At each of our 20 community schools, CSC provides afterschool Expanded Learning programs, including:
Academic Support
to help students get excited about learning and meet academic standards:
- homework assistance
- tutoring, including Supplemental Education Services
- academic enrichment activities
- Refugee Success Clubs (support for English Language Learning and U.S. acculturation)
- college awareness and readiness
Youth Development
to help students develop self-esteem and leadership skills and make positive life choices:
- older to younger student mentoring
- Earth Service Corps, Penny Harvest and other community service projects
- Peer Health Councils
- Multicultural Clubs
- life skills and prevention groups
Enrichment activities
to help students discover themselves and develop their talents:
- visual and performing arts
- sports and recreation
- games and clubs
