Outcomes: CSC Makes a Difference
CSC’s 2009-10 evaluation reveals that we helped students in our 16 community schools make important academic and developmental gains:
72% of students improved in class participation. 92% of students reported that CSC helped them to complete their homework. 90% of students reported that CSC helped them to improve their grades. 90% of high school students are very sure they will finish high school, 80% are very sure they will enroll in college, and 75% are very sure they will finish college. In addition, 34 of the 52 seniors—or 65%—served by CSC last year are now enrolled in college.
Students and Teachers Share Their Thoughts
CSC is particularly proud of how students and teachers assessed the value of our staff and programs. Here are a few of their comments:
"They (CSC staff) pointed out that I have intelligence. I now know what an impact I can make, I know I am smart." -- high school student "I like how if I don't understand something or I need help w/anything, someone's always there to help me." -- middle school student "I try to improve myself everyday to qualify for the college that I've been taught about." -- high school student "[I value] that students have a dedicated place for homework where they can be supported by tutors familiar with what is happening in class." -- math teacher, high school
Through surveys and focus groups with students and teachers, our evaluation team at MEM Consultants found that Community Schools Collaboration programs fosters school engagement and motivation, a well-rounded education, academic success, and supports post-secondary success.
