CSC is recruiting community leaders with a passion to positively influence the lives of young people and families in our community.
An ideal board member has an outward vision rather than internal preoccupation; encourages diversity in viewpoints; displays strategic leadership; believes in collective rather than individual decision-making; is proactive rather than reactive. Skills in business, accounting, law, marketing or strong organizational skills are a plus.
The board will cultivate a sense of group responsibility and accountability. The board, not the staff, is responsible for excellence in governing. The board is the initiator of policy, not merely a reactor to staff initiatives. The board uses the expertise of individual members to enhance the ability of the board as a body rather than to substitute individual judgments for the board's values; to that end the board will act as one voice.
CSC holds monthly board meetings and one board staff retreat each year. Each board applicant must agree to a minimum 2-year commitment. All board members are asked to make a personally meaningful financial contribution to the organization and to actively fundraise. Please click here for an application.
